About This Dog for Adoption

Edie's ideal home

Edie is a friendly girl who is going to make a splendid companion. She has a good history around children and can live with those of primary school age. Edie has the potential to live with other dogs. She especially gets on with dogs that are a similar size to her. Possible matches would be subject to a mix in centre prior to rehoming. While we have no history of Edie around cats, she does have the potential to live with them, pending successful scent swaps. This would be in a home that can take introductions gradually, with the ability to keep them separate at first. Edie has some ongoing medical with skin allergies. We will give potential families all the information about this before adoption.

Could you be Edie's perfect match?

Edie is an older lady who has come into our care through no fault of her own. She’s an absolute sweetheart who has settled into kennel life but really deserves to be back in amongst home comforts. Her home history is really good. She can be left home alone for a few hours (though as always reintroducing this is always welcomed) and has a good history of car travel on the backseat so trips out are also an option. Housetraining might benefit from a quick refresher but she’s got really good home history there too. If you can open your heart to Edie then add her as a favourite.

Shih Tzu Puppy Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Shih Tzu.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Shih Tzu Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images
