Tilly absolutely loves spending time outdoors, so her ideal home would have a private garden where she can explore and enjoy the fresh air.

Tilly can be sensitive around handling and towards things that she has possession of. She would best suit a household with older children from the age of 12, who can respect her space and understand her needs.

When it comes to being left alone, Tilly will need a gradual approach. She's comfortable with being left alone for short periods of up to 4 hours, especially if Minnie is by her side.

Tilly may be a bit fearful in stressful situations, which is why her new home should be a calm and patient environment. With the right consistency and support, she can overcome her anxieties and feel safe.

Tilly is a confident and spirited girl with a big personality and a loyal heart. She’s looking for a forever home alongside her best friend, Minnie, where she can enjoy peaceful walks, tasty treats, and a calm environment.

Tilly is the leader of this dynamic duo—curious, independent, and quick to settle into new surroundings. She loves “find it” games with treats and enjoys fuss from her trusted humans, often hopping onto laps for cuddles. While she’s affectionate, she also values her space and can be sensitive to certain types of handling, especially around her feet and during vet visits.

She’s not a fan of cats, puddles, or loud environments, and therefore would thrive in a quieter home.

Tilly is food-motivated, travels well in the car, and enjoys exploring the garden with Minnie by her side.

Shih Tzu Puppy Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Shih Tzu.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Shih Tzu Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images
