This dynamic duo would work best in a household with children aged 12 and up. Minnie can be a little unsure around new people and prefers a quieter environment, so a home without young children is definitely the way to go.

When it comes to alone time, Minnie has shown that she can handle being left for up to four hours, especially if Tilly is by her side. It would be wonderful for her new family to be involved in ongoing training and confidence-building activities, as this would help Minnie thrive in her new surroundings.

Minnie is a sweet and sensitive girl with a gentle soul and a love for squeaky toys, cuddles, and peaceful walks. She’s currently in foster care with her best friend, Tilly, and they’re looking for a forever home together.

Minnie is affectionate but prefers fuss on her own terms. She enjoys being near her people and will quietly follow you around the house, though she’s gaining confidence and independence every day.

She walks beautifully on the lead, avoids puddles, and loves to sniff and explore.

While she’s playful and curious, Minnie can be shy in new situations and is easily startled by loud noises or unfamiliar people.

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Shih Tzu.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Shih Tzu Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images
